Salmat offers employees access to a free telephone information and resource service that can help balance work, family or life commitments. This service provides information and support concerning family care.

A number of employee reward programs operate nationally and in each branch. These range from informal 'night on the town' rewards, which are presented at managers' discretion, to the annual incentive trip.

Salmat recognises that our employees become more and more valuable each year, as they grow to be more skilled, better informed and increasingly resourceful within Salmat . We recognise this value with annual service awards for periods of 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 years or more.

Salmat has regular internal newsletter that keeps employees up-to-date on what's happening with their colleagues - whether that be work or personal achievements, social events or family news.

Internet kiosks are available in the lunch room or cafeteria in each branch. They are free and intended for employees' personal benefit. We encourage employees to develop internet skills so they can enjoy the information, communications and technology available online.

Some of our branches have on-site gymnasiums that are supervised by health professionals on a part-time basis. These supervisors can prepare employees a full health and fitness program, with regular follow-up assessments.

Health awareness programs throughout the year deal with a wide range of topics such as diabetes, heart health, drug/alcohol dependence and nutrition.

Each branch of Salmat offers social club activities throughout the year, including family fun days, theatre parties, winery visits, dinner cruises and other functions.

Our larger branches operate subsidised cafeterias, open for breakfast, morning tea and lunch, Monday to Friday. Each cafeteria provides well-priced meals including hot breakfast and lunch items, sandwiches and salads.
